It is the carminative digestive enzyme liquid formula in a 15 mL dropper of HT-PEP DROP to assist with digestion and reduce gas, bloating, indigestion and colic-type symptoms. This formula pairs specific probiotics with a proprietary (Holistic) enzyme blend of digestive enzymes, which is root-cause focused and eliminates the need for Tummy Pain drops to then also have enzyme drops. Earliest popular usage date questionable.

The product uses enzymatic action to aid digestion of the main macronutrients (carbohydrates and proteins), and the carminative activity of essential oils, which decreases gas, alleviates flatulence and promotes prompt gastrointestinal transit.

Mechanism of Action — How It Works

1. Digestive Enzymes

  • Alpha-Amylase: An enzyme produced by bacteria that hydrolyzes (breaks down) starches and complex carbohydrates into simpler sugars (e.g., maltose, maltotriose), enabling their absorption in the small bowel.
  • Papain: A proteolytic enzyme from papaya, which hydrolyzes proteins into smaller peptides and amino acids by cleaving peptide bonds for optimal protein digestion and nutrient absorption.

2. Natural Carminative Oils

These oils have historically been applied for their antispasmodic effects on the smooth muscles of the digestive tract:

  • Dill Oil: Has bioactive components which may alleviate smooth muscle of the gut, decrease convulsions and gas production.
  • Anise Oil: As a gentle antispasmodic and digestive soother, it may help to facilitate digestion, which in turn reduces gas pain and bloating.
  • Caraway Oil: Acts as a carminative to help expel gas and facilitate digestion, reducing bloating and abdominal distension; it also possesses antispasmodic properties for overall digestive support.

Together also work together to help break down food ingredients more completely, minimizing the signs and symptoms of inadequate digestion, such as gas and bloating.

Indications (Uses)

HT-PEP DROP provides support for:

  • Indigestion / Dyspepsia: Assists in the relief of symptoms, including discomfort and feeling of fullness after meals, by supporting digestion through the enzymatic action mustard promotes.
  • Flatulence (Gas): Natural oils help alleviate pressure from bloating due to trapped gas.
  • Colic and Abdominal Discomfort: For the relief of mild baby colic, you can't beat chamomile tea (check with your doctor first).
  • General Digestive Support: Aids in the digestion of carbohydrates and protein, and encourages nutrient absorption.

Benefits

Digestive Support

The active enzymes aid in the digestion of major food nutrient groups, resulting in less indigestion-related symptoms like fullness, heaviness and bloating.

Natural Gas Relief

Carminative oils are chosen for their traditional use to help relieve bloating, stomach cramps and back pain when camomile brings therapeutic relief combined with a warming effect.

Comfort and Tolerance

Liquid drops make it easy to give to children, making them ideal for pediatric patients, as dosages can be adjusted with precision.

Typical Usage and Administration

Please note: always consult a doctor before use, especially for babies and children

  • Adults/Older Children (if applicable): Take drops as directed by physician or pharmacist, usually before or after meals to promote digestion.
  • Infants & Toddlers: Administer small, measured doses (e.g. using a dropper/syringe = approx 8–12 drops) following breast or bottle feeds, or as recommended; parental supervision and medical advice required.
  • Shake well and use the dropper provided to get an accurate dosage.
  • Do not take more than the recommended dose without the advice of a doctor.

Safety Information & Precautions

  • Allergies: Ask a health professional before use if allergic to enzymes or essential oils.
  • Medical Conditions: The information about children having some present medical conditions & the medications they are currently taking should be consulted accordingly.
  • Storage: Keep it in a cold, dry place out of direct sunlight and children's reach.
  • Not a Substitute for Medical Care: This is a digestive support formulation; chronic or severe symptoms should be treated by a physician.

Side Effects

Though it’s on the whole well-tolerated in standard doses:

  • Uncommon sensitivities may manifest in the form of mild gastrointestinal upset or allergic reactions in susceptible individuals.
  • Stop use and see a health care provider if the undesirable symptoms develop.

Comparison & Category Context

Similar composition products (eg, enzyme and carminative drops, such as for example Neopeptine Drops, Neojet Drops or other Alpha-Amylase/Papain combination) are well established as digestive carminative mixtures for pediatric and adult use in minor gastrointestinal discomfort. The last one of these formulations, while not affecting the digestion served by the enzyme, still stimulates the elimination of gas and relieves symptoms of meteorisms.

FAQs
