GLIKINZ-PM2 - This medication is a combination of three medications PIOGLITAZONE + METFORMIN + GLIMEPIRIDE. It works by different mechanisms to provide better control of blood sugar when single or dual therapy is not effective. Glimepiride works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas to lower the blood glucose. Metformin is a biguanide that works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying glucose absorption from the intestines and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin. Pioglitazone is thiazolidinedione which also works to increase insulin sensitivity.
How to Take This Medication?
You should take this medication in the dose and duration as advised by your healthcare provider. Consume PIOGLITAZONE + METFORMIN + GLIMEPIRIDE with food to avoid stomach upset. So if sometime you miss the dose then take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose then skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Driving - After taking this medication do not drive because it may affect your ability to drive and may be affected if your blood sugar is too low or too high.
Kidney - This medication should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease and doses may be changed. But sometimes it may not be recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. So regular kidney monitoring is advisable while taking this medication.
